ABUCHI PETER UGWU APPOINTED NEW CEO OF CHOCOLATE CITY MUSIC

Chocolate City Music, a major Nigerian music label in a press statement on Monday announced Abuchi Peter Ugwu its new Chief Executive Officer.


Mr. Ugwu joined the 360-degree label as a Producer and Sound Engineer in 2008. He worked on Ice Prince and Brymo‘s Oleku and some other projects by the label acts. He has gone on to work in different capacities over the years.

In 2012, Mr. Ugwu ventured into artiste management and was appointed Head of Business Development of the label in 2015. He was named Vice-President of a Talent and Digital marketing agency, Bean Creative Agency. A subsidiary of Chocolate City Group based outside Lagos.


According to label co-founder, Audu Maikori: “…Chocolate City Music and its partners are poised to re-create a shift in how the music business is carried on for the mutual benefit and profit of both the artists and the labels,”

“We believe Mr. Ugwu is the right person to take the company to the next logical iteration”


Paul Okeugo, the label’s other co-founder added “For the past 15 years, Chocolate City has set the standard on what is achievable both artistically and business-wise in the country. We have full confidence Mr. Ugwu will keep the tradition going,” Okeugo said.


Mr. Ugwu, also made a statement “Chocolate City Music is dear to me; it has helped shape who I am today. I’m excited to do the same in this position for others through initiatives that promote progress, collaboration and drive value for artists.”


Former Chocolate City artist and CEO, now Director,  Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga: “Mr. Abuchi knows the music industry inside and out and I’m excited to see the amazing things he’s going to do.”


Chocolate City over the years published M.I, Ice Prince, and Jesse Jagz. The label currently has BlaqBonez and Candy Bleakz on its roster.
