The speed at which events are unfolding in Ukraine since the incessant invasion of Russia has been fast-paced. Tech giants such as Apple, Google, and Snapchats have announced and rolled out new policies against Russian State-sponsored apps and channels and safety features for Ukrainians.

Earlier this month, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO informed staff that the company has “paused all product sales in Russia”, removed state-media outlets RT and Sputnik’s apps from its App Store outside Russia; and disabled some features of its Apple Maps app in Ukraine as a “safety and precautionary measure for Ukrainian citizens”.

Snap has stopped all ads showing in Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus. They also put out a promise to “vigilantly monitoring our platform for any evidence of disinformation or misuse”.

YouTube on the other hand has restricted access to Sputnik and RT’s YouTube channels across entire Europe.
