Hip-Hop Legend Missy Elliot Gets Honours, Again


Missy Elliott, the multifaceted icon, will be honoured at the highly anticipated Celebration of Legends event hosted by the National Museum of African American Music.

The star-studded affair, taking place on June 2 in Nashville, Tennessee, recognizes Missy‘s groundbreaking impact on the world of Hip-Hop and her collaboration with esteemed Atlantic Records. Joining a distinguished list of past honorees, including Lionel Richie, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, Smokey Robinson, and the Fisk Jubilee Singers, Missy Elliott‘s influence will be celebrated in grand style.

Esteemed guests, including R&B artist Mýa and Sylvia Rhone, both of whom have collaborated with Missy Elliott, will grace the event. Sylvia Rhone, previously a senior vice president at Atlantic Records and a colleague of Missy‘s during their time at EastWest Records, shares a significant connection with the honoree and the label.

Missy Elliott‘s recent accomplishments have made waves in the music industry. She made history as the first female rapper inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. Additionally, she received the prestigious MTV Video Vanguard Award. Becoming the first woman rapper and only the third rapper ever to be honoured.
