Mdundo, an East African DSP, has partnered with MTN Nigeria in order to offer its (Mdundo) premium package to MTN subscribers. The deal means more than 20 million songs catalogue and curated playlists will be available to the telecom’s 100 million subscribers.

A similar deal with Tanzania’s Vodacom was made by the DSP in May. The telecoms partnership strategy by Mdundo is to help it achieve its 40% growth goal in the coming years.

According to Mdundo‘s head of telco partnership, Patrick Sambao “Nigeria is a key market for us and with this partnership, Mdundo will be available to over 110 million customers across Nigeria covering a significant share of all mobile subscribers in Nigeria. MTN is a strong player with a forward-thinking partnership approach and a strong vested interest in the Nigerian music industry, making them great partners.”

Srinivas Rao, MTN Nigeria’s chief digital officer also said “We are excited about this partnership as we continue to seek opportunities to provide superior service to our customers. Nigerians love music and we believe this partnership will strengthen our capability to meet our subscribers’ needs by offering another platform for music consumption.”
