Search For Songs By Humming, Singing Or Playing A Tune On YouTube Music

YouTube Music rolled out a new feature that allows users to search for songs by humming, singing, or playing a tune after testing for about a year.

The sound search feature uses YouTube Music’s catalogue of over 100 million official songs to find a match or matches. It’s available to YouTube Music subscribers on iOS and Android; and accessible through a waveform icon in the search bar.

The rollout was confirmed by a YouTube Music spokesperson in a mail to Music Business Worldwide that states, “We hope to bring this to even more YouTube Music users in the future”.

Last year, Google unveiled MusicLM, an ‘experimental AI’ tool that can generate high-fidelity music from text prompts and humming.

YouTube Music is also testing AI-generated conversational radio for its Premium subscribers in the US. This new feature allows users to create custom radio stations by verbally describing their desired music preferences.
