After a 12-year hiatus, the esteemed KORA All Africa Music Awards are making a comeback as an annual event to honor the contributions of musicians, artists, and leaders within the African community. Often likened to the “African Grammys,” this star-studded event aims to celebrate the diverse creativity and accomplishments of nominees from Africa, the Caribbean, the Americas, and Europe, while also working to bridge the cultural gap between America and Africa. Notably, this year’s event will also recognize Afro-dancers and dance groups, acknowledging the global influence of the dance community.

The event is scheduled to take place on December 1st, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa, celebrating the worldwide impact and diversity of African music.

The history behind the awards

The KORA All Africa Music Awards have a history of honoring African, Afro-descendant, and African American artists. The KORA All Africa Music Awards have been graced by legendary figures such as Nelson Mandela and global icons like Michael Jackson, Shaggy, 2Baba, JJC & 419 Squad, Chidinma, P-Square, Davido, etc.

This year’s event is expected to be a landmark occasion in the entertainment industry. The KORA Awards will return to television broadcasts across Africa. Efforts are underway to find a premier partner in the United States for exclusive rights.
