TikTok is Testing 60 Minutes Video Upload

Share

‘Short-video app’ is now an inaccurate way to describe TikTok. Meanwhile, the maximum length of TikTok’s non-live videos has increased several times in recent years. Now it may be getting bumped up to an hour.

Social media expert, Matt Navarra, posted a screenshot yesterday of an in-app message from TikTok. “Upload videos up to 60 minutes long! Make sure your app is up-to-date, then try uploading from your app or desktop on tiktok.com”. This is a big leap towards long-form content by TikTok.

This move may be TikTok’s attempt to encourage creators to post longer videos on its app since they normally post them on YouTube. A 60-minute maximum length may lead to video-on-demand content, from TV shows to (non-live) music concerts, if TikTok wants to play in those spaces.
