Google search results may soon include TikTok and Instagram videos.
According to The Information, “Google executives have been quietly negotiating with their counterparts at the video apps’ parent companies, ByteDance for TikTok and Facebook for Instagram, to get the data it needs to index and rank videos. The talks show how Google is trying to keep its search engine relevant with more users as it faces new competition and regulatory threats.”
The latter part shouldn’t be ignored because the more popular other video platforms get, the more it looks bad for Google if they aren’t indexed in the results; except they can prove they tried and got rebuffed.
If it all ends well, artistes will have viral videos with their songs coming up on search results.
Great news!
