Instagram has begun testing a new way for creators on the platform to earn revenue via creator-level subscription. At the moment, the tests are being carried out by 10 users – influencers, dancers, and sports personalities – in the US.
The levels are from a subscription fee of $0.99/month to about $99.99/month in an eight-tier system. The viewers in return for this fee will gain access to the creator’s exclusive livestreams, a purple fandom badge when they comment, subscribers-only stories, and Stories saved as Highlights. Instagram has stated it will not participate in splitting the revenues with the creators until 2023.
